McMaster University’s Undergraduate Medical Education Program is a partner with the University of Toronto’s Temerty MD Program’s Community of Support program. This collaborative initiative has a goal to increase the number of students who are Indigenous, Black, Filipino, or economically disadvantaged in medical schools. Being a member of the Community of Support will provide individuals with access to a variety of opportunities including admissions information, access to mentors, and support at each stage of the application process.
What is Our Mission?
The goal of the Community of Support is to increase diversity in healthcare by supporting students who are underrepresented in healthcare fields at every stage of their journey.
Who is Eligibility?
The Community of Support program supports prospective health professions students who are Indigenous, Black, Filipino, socioeconomically disadvantaged, or who identify as having a disability.
What Do We Do?
Being a member of the Community of Support will provide individuals with access to the following opportunities:
- Admissions Information: one-on-one advising and access to admissions events.
- Access to mentors (medical students, physicians, peer support communities) and experiences (research, leadership and volunteer opportunities, enrichment courses).
- Support at each stage of the application process:
- MCAT preparation;
- Casper preparation;
- 1-1 support with medical school application;
- School-specific interview preparation;
