Tami Everding – 15 Year Anniversary
Congratulations Tami Everding, WRC Regional Campus Manager, for being such a valuable member of the McMaster UGME and PGME team for 15 years!
“Congratulations Tami on this amazing milestone of 15 years at McMaster University,” said Dr. Matt Sibbald, Associate Dean, Undergraduate Medical Education. “Your guidance, wisdom, and creativity have touched an entire generation of learners, staff, and faculty. Hard to imagine the countless learners that you helped along their journey at such a pivotal moment in their professionalization. We are so privileged to have you as a colleague, manager, and leader within the undergraduate medical education community. Congratulations!”
“Tami has led the integration of postgraduate medical education and medical residents into the region of Waterloo, said Dr. Parveen Wasi, Associate Dean, Postgraduate Medical Education. “Over the last 15 years, she has fostered and established strong, trusting, and collaborative relationships with local hospitals and clinical partners which has played a pivotal role in the success of our programming and supporting the community. Tami has supported McMaster residents as they transition to medical training in the region and welcomed hundreds of elective learners from around the globe. Most importantly, Tami consistently champions, advocates, and supports the needs of postgraduate medical residents, whether in a one-on-one conversation or at the leadership table. Thank you, Tami, for always going above and beyond to make the WRC regional campus a leader in the distributed medical education and for being a dedicated member of our postgraduate medical education leadership team. Congratulations on this milestone.”
Tami was instrumental in the creation of the WRC. She worked at the University of Waterloo as the Administrative Assistant to the VP of Strategic Initiatives, who was tasked with bringing more health sciences programs to the UW Health Sciences Campus. One of the elements that President David Johnston wanted was a medical school and knew that a partnership with McMaster was the best way to achieve that goal. Tami was an integral member of the team that pitched the project and secured funding for the building. When the process was completed and they had been successful, Tami received an email from McMaster inviting her to apply for the role.
“It has been a journey for me as Tami’s partner of medical education for 12 of her 15 years at WRC,” said Dr. Margo Mountjoy, WRC Assistant Dean. “I can’t imagine doing this gig without Tami. Her calm and practical approach to problem-solving mixed with her contagious sense of humour brightens my days. I firmly believe she has a bottomless Mary Poppins Bag of creative ideas to innovate and make the impossible happen: how do you do it? Thank you, Tami, for your important role in growing the physicians of tomorrow. You are appreciated! Looking forward to continuing the journey and partnership with my ‘wingman’.”
Now, Tami manages all components of the WRC, from coordinating the WRC administrative staff, and liaising with the U Waterloo and local Hospital administration to managing the logistical components of UG and PG medical education program delivery while maintaining fiscal responsibility. She also manages the daily challenges of strategic planning for both the immediate and long-term futures of the WRC. Tami is the glue that holds the campus together.
Tami’s impact doesn’t stop there, it extends well beyond the Waterloo Regional Campus. Everyone who works with her recognizes her as a team player.
“Recently Tami and I were at ICRE, and we watched the winner of the “PA of the Year” award accept her award in a tiara. We loved it!” said Melanie Pulling, NRC Regional Campus Manager. “If anyone on this planet deserves a tiara it’s Tami, and I feel like this is a tiara moment. Tami is so knowledgeable and helpful and is all-around an amazing person. We are so blessed to have her here at McMaster!”
More than anything, Tami has been an unbelievable support to the students who attend the WRC. She is immensely proud of the WRC graduates and is thrilled that she is starting to see them come back as faculty. She has seen many classes go through the program but always feels privileged to attend the Oath ceremony. The moment they turn around and read the Hippocratic Oath to their friends and families never fails to bring a tear to her eyes.
“Congratulations on a wonderful 15 years at WRC,” said Rohan Dadak, Class of 2024 MMSC VP Internal Waterloo. “On behalf of the class, we all appreciate how helpful and friendly you are. There is no doubt that you are absolutely integral to maintaining the community that we have at WRC. Thank you for everything you do for the students at WRC!”
Congratulations on achieving this anniversary with us, Tami! We applaud the determination and effort you have demonstrated during your time with the UGME, and we truly appreciate your dedication. We look forward to seeing all the great things we know you will accomplish in the coming years!
“I am very proud of my time at McMaster, I have had the opportunity to grow a campus from the ground up, to learn so much about medical education and residency programs,” said Tami. “At the same time working with the faculty and staff to create a campus that gives the students a comfortable welcoming place to learn.”
