Career Opportunities

Faculty as teachers and leaders are central to the successful education of medical students at McMaster University.  Many clinicians recognize the teaching they do as an energizing responsibility that contributes to the overall satisfaction of their daily work.  Over time, clinicians commonly assume positions of educational leadership.  Clinicians become involved in leadership roles through education initiatives, innovation, and overseeing teams of teachers, scholars, and educators.

There are many rewarding leadership roles in the MD Program.  Examples include Pre-Clerkship Planners and Course Directors, Clerkship Directors, and Regional Education Leads.  There are important leadership roles in Diversity, Indigenous Health, Student Affairs, and Student Assessment.  Faculty interested to learn more about leadership opportunities can contact Karen McAssey, Chair of Leadership Development (mcassek@mcmaster.ca).

In keeping with McMaster’s commitment to employment equity within its community, the Undergraduate Medical Education Program (UGME) encourages all existing faculty members appointed to the Faculty of Health Sciences or those eligible for appointment, including women, persons with disabilities, First Nations, Métis and Inuit persons, members of racialized communities and LGBTQ-identified persons to apply for positions within the program. Applicants requiring any form of accommodation throughout the selection procedure are asked to contact the UGME program office, c/o Suri Wang, Coordinator, Operations & Evaluation.
